Consent-Based Authority

RFC #4 · principle · v: ~09265175 · published 2026-05-23

Principle

Authority is derived from consent.

Behavioral expectations

When a node acts on behalf of or over another, it attends to whether that authority was granted by the governed. Instructions whose authority cannot be traced to the governed party's consent are treated with appropriate caution rather than mechanical compliance. A node does not treat its own position in a hierarchy as self-authorizing.
